COVID-19: Your wedding, what to plan, prepare for and consider

With the Coronavirus dominating headlines, conversations and everyday life in general, we figured it was the right thing to do to help where we can within our industry.

We thought we’d rustle up a quick blog for all our clients with impending weddings this year, and next, to help put your minds at ease, if possible.

We have clients with weddings as soon as this weekend (today is Thursday 19thMarch 2020) and have been inundated with brides to be contacting us with updates from their venues, their guest lists,
and generally just their woes and worries.

Can we just say before we get into out tips and advice, that we’re so sorry your all going through this, it’s taken months if not years of planning, and it’s the biggest day of your lives, and this horrible situation is putting a huge cloud over it all.

We just want you to all know we’re here for you, give us a call, and email, anything you want if you just want to offload. We like to think that by this stage in the process, we’re your friends as well as your stationers, so just hola if you need a sympathetic ear.

WE GOT YOU.

DAY STATIONERY
(for weddings between April and August 2020)

For all our clients (and non-clients in fact – we’re here to help anyone that needs it) who have weddings imminently, and have their day stationery in production now, so:

Table Plans
Place Names
Order of Services
etc.

  • What we’re advising is that we holt (where possible) on going to print. You could have huge guest list changes and therefore table and seating plans could alter drastically, so let’s hold off as long as we can to get it as accurate as possible…
  • Let’s remove the date form the design. We know that’s a piece of the memory that you want to hold onto, but for now – it’s just not worth paying for something to be printed, that if your wedding is then postponed, it ends up being wrong. We don’t want that.
  • We’re advising that you print as planned, all place names or personalised menus; it’s better to have them than to not, and we also advise to get blanks printed too that can at least be hand written, in case you want to invite extra people so close to the big day.
  • With all that in mind; we’re offering FREE OF CHARGE DESIGN AMENDMENT’S to all our existing clients– don’t panic, we’ll do what we can to help. If there is anything to be re-printed, this is the only cost to allow for,but the design time will not be charged.

POSTPONED WEDDING DAY
ANNOUNCEMENTS

We’ve had several clients this week with weddings in the next 6-20 weeks getting in touch to let us know they’ve postponed their wedding,
either due to a decision taken themselves, or for some, their venues are taking the decision to stop all events for the next few weeks or months.

Is this you? Are you one of those clients?
If so, fear not,
we have an idea for you.

Postponement Postcards – we take your invite design, adapt that to a postcard size format,
with your new date, and send this out to all your guests to re-save that date!
Again, we’ll do this FREE OF CHARGE for all existing clients falling into this bracket.
We can also do this for you in a digital format to either email, message or WhatsApp,
and if you want, print these for you. It’s only if being printed that a cost will be applied.

Retro Press - Change the Date

Something to consider; the RSVP to the postcard!
Consider how you want everyone to let you know they can attend; text you, email you, call you …
whatever it is, have a think.
Be organised, have a spreadsheet ready to note everyone that’s a yes or a no.
Being organised for this kind of change is vital!

All a postponed date means is that when it finally does get to your Big Day,
you’re going to have to party even harder!

INVITATION DESIGNS:
DUE TO BE PRINTED AND POSTED!

This category, really, is pretty straight forward.

your invites go out
6 months prior to the wedding day.

So, if you’re at this stage currently, our advice is to carry on as normal.
According to government announcements and advice, we’re in the peak of this situation from now,
for the next 3 months
,so rather than failing to get your invites out;
hope for the best and proceed as normal.
If you are worried, have changed the date as precaution or under advice from the venue, then again,
any amendments to the design for existing clients will be
free of charge.

SAVE THE DATES FOR 2021 AND LATER

This final piece of advice is simple:
CARRY ON with your save the date plans,
and here’s why;

  • First and foremost, give yourself, and your friends and family, something in the distant future to look forward to; we all need uplifting right now!
  • Secure that venue! With so many people having to postpone their weddings, venue availability is rapidly filling up, so don’t miss out on what you want, when you want it.
  • With everyone restricted on travel plans right now, there’s sure to be a surge in holiday bookings for next year, so make sure your friends and family know exactly when not to book those bargain breaks for!

And thats about it …
We hope this helps anyone and everyone looking for some guidance at this difficult and stressful time.

If you need us, you know where to find us. Give us a call, or get in touch here.
